On the Prospect of Being an Exchange Student

I have always been fascinated with Europe, and have always fancied myself living in Switzerland, fluent in the language, well versed in Swiss tradition and culture. Although there are similarities in the cultures and schools, I am really looking forward to discovering the differences and manoevuring my way around them. I expect this may be difficult, for most adjustments prove challenging to grow accustomed to, but I am looking forward to the novel and unique experience. My friends and family are all very supportive of my decision, though some are skeptical of the fact that I will be away from home for an entire year. Admittedly, this will be trying. I will have to live for an entire year without seeing my friends or family, or returning home to anything familiar. But I am confident in my ability to make new friends, and keeping my old accquaintainces only means I will have to try my hardest to stay in contact via email or telephone while I am away. I know it will be hard, but ultimately, I am sure it will be worth it. Such an experience is only avaliable to me once in a lifetime and I plan to make the best of this great opportunity.
